WHAT IS LOXONE

Loxone is a professional home and building automation system centred on the Miniserver. The Miniserver receives information from sensors and connected systems, runs the automation logic and coordinates how the building responds.

Instead of treating lighting, climate, shading, audio, security, access and energy as separate systems, Loxone allows them to work together according to the requirements of the project.

The Loxone App and room controls provide manual access when required, but the system is designed to automate routine building functions rather than depend on constant app use.

BUILDING SYSTEMS

The value of Loxone is not one individual product. It is the way building functions can share information and respond as one coordinated system.

01

Lighting

Lighting that responds to presence, daylight, time and how each space is used.

02

Audio

Music, doorbells, announcements and audible alerts, integrated into the wider automation.

03

Climate

Air conditioning and ventilation coordinated around occupancy, comfort and how the building is being used.

04

Shading

Blinds and curtains that respond to glare, sunlight, weather and how each room is used.

05

Security

Security events connected to lighting, alerts and wider building responses when needed.

06

Access

Doors, gates and entry points integrated into the same control and automation logic.

07

Energy

Energy data used not only to monitor consumption, but to support smarter building behaviour.

SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE

The system can be expanded according to the size, functions and interfaces required by each project.

01

Miniserver

The central controller that processes automation logic and coordinates the connected building systems.

02

Extensions and Interfaces

Additional inputs, outputs and interfaces allow the system to expand according to the requirements of the project.

LOCAL AUTOMATION

Core automation is processed on the Loxone Miniserver inside the building. Lighting, climate, shading and other configured functions do not need a cloud connection to carry out their local automation.

Internet connectivity is still used for functions that depend on online services, such as remote access, online weather data and selected notifications. This allows the building’s core logic to remain local while online services are used where they add value.

INTEGRATION

Madoc does not approach a project as a collection of one brand’s products. We use Loxone as the automation core where appropriate, then integrate the building technologies required by the design.

Depending on the equipment and documented interfaces, Loxone can work with technologies such as KNX, DALI, Modbus and BACnet. Madoc also coordinates HVAC, motorised shading, audio, security, access and professional network systems around the needs of the project.

APPLICATIONS

Residential

New homes, renovations and existing properties can use Loxone to coordinate everyday building functions while keeping controls consistent and the automation adaptable to the way the home is used.

Commercial and Building Projects

Loxone can also be applied to offices, hospitality, residential developments and other suitable building projects where central automation, energy management, access, monitoring and scalable control are required.

LOXONE GOLD PARTNER

Madoc has worked with Loxone since its first Loxone project in 2014. Our role goes beyond supplying hardware. We design the system architecture, coordinate interfaces, program the automation, commission the installation and support the system after handover.

In 2018, Muzamil Mahmud visited Loxone headquarters in Kollerschlag, Austria. The photograph here shows him pointing to Malaysia on the Loxone partner map. Today Madoc is listed by Loxone as a Gold Partner in Kuala Lumpur.

Our wider integration work, including Country Heights Damansara, applies the same engineering approach across lighting, HVAC and audio whether or not Loxone is the control platform.

Loxone’s own international reference library features Madoc projects in Malaysia across residential and commercial applications.

What is Loxone?

Loxone is a home and building automation platform built around the Miniserver, a local controller that reads inputs from sensors, switches and meters and drives outputs such as lighting, blinds, HVAC and audio. The logic and schedules are programmed into the Miniserver and run on the device itself, so core automation does not depend on an internet connection.

Is Loxone available in Malaysia?

Yes. Loxone hardware is used on residential and commercial projects in Malaysia. Madoc is a Loxone Gold Partner and systems integrator based in Kuala Lumpur, handling system design, programming, commissioning and ongoing support rather than hardware supply alone.

Does Loxone need the internet?

Core automation logic runs locally on the Miniserver, so configured functions such as lighting, climate and shading do not need a cloud connection to carry out their local automation. Internet connectivity is still used for services that depend on online access, such as remote access from outside the building, online weather data and notification services.

Is Loxone wired or wireless?

Both. Loxone Tree provides a wired technology for permanent building infrastructure, while Loxone Air provides wireless devices for retrofit, additions and locations where new control cabling is impractical. Madoc chooses between them according to the building and the project requirements. Our article on wired vs wireless smart homes in Malaysia explains how we make that decision.

Can Loxone integrate with KNX?

Yes. Loxone communicates with KNX devices through a KNX interface, which allows KNX sensors, actuators and room controllers to work alongside Loxone logic in the same system. Madoc used this combination at Templer Heights, where KNX and Loxone operate together as one control architecture.

Can Loxone integrate with DALI-2?

DALI and DALI-2 lighting can be brought into a Loxone system through a DALI gateway, which addresses individual drivers or luminaires and reports their status back to the controller instead of switching fixed circuits. Whether DALI-2 suits a project depends on the lighting design and the drivers specified, so Madoc assesses it as part of our building automation services rather than applying it by default.

What can Loxone integrate with?

Alongside its own hardware, Loxone can work with KNX, DALI, Modbus, DMX and other equipment that exposes a documented interface, including audio, HVAC, access control and metering devices. What is practical on any given project depends on the equipment specified and the interfaces the manufacturer publishes. Further questions we are asked most often about integrated systems are answered on our FAQ page.
